Voting can be kinda overwhelming. We’re here to help.

Hi Nebraska! We’re your friends at BOLD. Our mission is to stand up for energy projects that protect our land and water and to show how they benefit everyday folks. But really, we’re about more than energy. We’re about power: the kind that comes when every Nebraskan speaks up, gets counted, and uses that power at the ballot box. Read on for everything you need to know as a Nebraska voter.

Important Dates

Register online, by mail or at the DMV when renewing your license at any time.* Registrations must be submitted and/or postmarked on or before the third Friday preceding an election or completed at the county election office** prior to 6 p.m. on the second Friday preceding an election.

 * Make sure you have your ID available.
** See below for how to register & vote early in person.

Check Your Registration Register to Vote

Nebraska is a “no-excuse” state, so any registered voter may request an early-voting (absentee) ballot.

You can print early voting application, complete the form, and then mail, fax or scan/take a picture of your application and email it to your county election office (all county election offices will accept appliccations up to 120 days prior to a statewide primary, general election or special election). Application must be received by 6 p.m. on the second Friday preceding the election.

Request an Absentee Ballot

You can register in person and vote early at your county election office 30 days prior to a primary or general election and 15 days for all other elections. Registrations must completed by 6 p.m. on the second Friday preceding an election. The day before the election is the last day to vote early in person.

Locate your County Election Office

Dropboxes are opened by the 6th Friday prior to any statewide primary or general election or by the 4th Friday prior to any special election—you must use a drop box located within your county.

The deadline to return voted ballots via drop box is the close of polls on election day.

Locate a dropbox

Each voter must cast their ballot at their assigned polling place. Polls are open 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. Voters will be asked for their name and address. In primary elections, voters will also be asked to name their party.

Voters who cannot read, are blind or have a physical disability may request assistance in marking their ballots. The voter may have a friend or relative assist them or the voter may request the assistance of two election board workers one each of a different party.
